Role Summary/Purpose
The Technical Lead - Stress Analysis plays a key role in the technical leadership of the A350XWB Wing Trailing Edge program. You will act as a technical expert on the stress analysis required for the program, with opportunity to carry out hands on work as well as mentor and develop the skills of graduate engineers across the team.
Essential Responsibilities
Work as part of a team, often deployed to a multidisciplinary project that ensures structural integrity of an airframe product.
Perform static stress calculations to assess design solutions for a whole range of tasks ranging from concept design through to detailed design drawings.
Perform fatigue and damage tolerance analysis when required to ensure product structural integrity.
Liaise with other functions and projects to ensure all stress requirements (including certification, strength, stiffness, durability, maintainability and reliability) are fully defined and integrated for any task undertaken.
Assist in the Structural design process to help ensure optimised design quality.
Report critical technical issues up through functional management.
When instructed, support on-going continuous improvement initiatives.
Technically liaise with new participants, supply base and other sub-contract organisations and individuals.
Preparation of qualification and test plans.
Qualifications/Requirements
Experience of working as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of aircraft structures using a range of standard hand and computer methods.
An ability to carry out analysis on new and existing projects using traditional and finite element methods utilising PATRAN and NASTRAN.
The ability to assess structural problems under pressure and to work with other team members.
An ability to confidently undertake aircraft stress calculations, and produce clear, concise reports and other documentation, of appropriate quality.

Desired Characteristics
Preferably an Aeronautical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent however significant experience in lieu of qualifications will be taken into consideration.
