  Design To Cost Leader

Role Summary/Purpose
The Design to Cost Leader – A350 leads a team of engineers to generate cost savings on the A350 XWB Trailing Edge. You will identify cost out opportunities and apply innovative engineering ideas in order to generate cost savings while still meeting product requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and technical direction to a team of engineers assigned to cost reduction activities
• Identify cost saving opportunities, generate plans and deliver on redesigns which achieve cost savings
• Manage all cost saving opportunities
• Provide status reports to internal and external customers
• Provide counsel to team on design practices and standards
• Integrate and develop cost out processes that meet business needs across the organization
• Play an active role on the engineering leadership team for the A350 XWB Trailing Edge program

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or qualified to an equivalent level
• Demonstrable experience as a project leader within an engineering function
• Knowledge of designing metallic or composite aircraft components
• Experience of working within a cross functional team
• Experience of leading a team of at least 3 people

Desired Characteristics
• Experience in productivity or lean manufacturing
• Six Sigma experience
• Understanding or experience working product cost and design to cost process and principles
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
